"For me, painting is as much sensual as cerebral. I am concerned not only
with the thought processes that go into the composition and arrangment of the objects, but also
with the way in which those objects affect the sensibilities of the viewer.
In my still lifes, especially in my floral works, I try to appeal to the
senses of touch, taste and smell as well as sight. All of my art work is
painted directly from life in set-ups created in my studio. Often the
flowers are from my own garden and the objects and fabrics from various
travels, flea markets and serendipitous "finds." In this way, I hope the
viewer will share with me the many pleasures of discovery as well as the allure and indulgence of the senses."
