My paintings are about special moments-ones that stirs the emotions. Variations of sky over seascapes and marsh scenes depicted on my canvases are metaphors for emotions in my life. Joy, fear, hope, sadness, wonderment, awe and love are given form through the light of nature's ever-changing conditions. Sunrises, sunsets, clear or stormed weather, provide the spectrum of light and mood to express these feelings. It is the beauty in nature that inspires my work. The location for most of my paintings is the Georgia coastal region near my birthplace of Savannah. On the beaches and marshes of nearby Tybee Island the range of light and moods through the southern atmosphere provide the setting for the moments that are the subject matter and emotional palette for my work. I paint these impressions for a source of inner nourishment and to explore the relationship between experience and spirit. My observations have led me to the conviction that environment has a profound effect on behavior and well being. I believe in the importance of nurturing surroundings for emotional and physical health. This is my art. It comes more from the heart than the mind and is created to share.
