"My landscape and architectural paintings are visceral encounters with the
physical world. I paint from life, working out-of-doors on-site in order to
capture distinct nuances of light that occur at particular times of the day.
Dusk and the early evening hours are my favorite time to paint. The
disappearing sun provides a multi-layered drama which never fails to spark my
imagination.
I am inspired by seemingly simple subjects: a lone house standing on a hill,
the light's effects on calm waters, a winding road's curve, the golden
sunlight shining through a tree's leaves. The power of the outside world is
the elemental beauty perpetually hovering in the mundane. The process of painting what I observe allows me to discover emotional depths I had not known were there. I strive to share this same experience with the viewer."
